Oyo Govt’s Advisory Council meets Olubadan-designate, exhibits fitness for enthronement

Governor Seyi Makinde’s 3-man delegation Advisory Council led by Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN) on Friday met with the Olubadan designate Oba Owolabi Olakulehin at his Alalubosa residence, Ibadan.

The Olubadan designate on the occasion, expressed confidence in his medical fitness and readiness to be enthroned as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The Olubadan designate, who spoke extensively in Yoruba, said, “Olorun wa lehin mi. Olorun so pe, emi ni kin ni yi kan, emi naa ri pe looto, looto, emi lokan,” meaning “God is behind me. God said, it is my turn for this thing, and I see that very truly, it is my turn”.

“He (God) has confirmed that it is my turn to reign as Olubadan, and I have seen His manifestation. There is nothing left again.

“I am fit and ready. Everything is set. I will not disappoint God and the entire people of Ibadanland.

“I have the support of other members of the Olubadan Council.

“We have been together for a long time. They are my people.

“When I heard of the governor’s delegation’s visit, I invited them. Thank God, they are all here today. I thank you all.”

Earlier in his address, the leader of the delegation, Agba Ofin of Ibadanland, Chief Ayorinde (SAN), hinted that they had the mandate of Governor Makinde to pay a courtesy visit to the Olubadan Designate as members of his Advisory Council.

Chief Ayorinde, who confirmed the fitness of Olakulehin for the throne, promised that they would make their findings and observations known to the governor so that the process of coronation could commence in earnest.

According to him, “There is a laid-down process to be followed in any issue concerning Ibadanland, especially the enthronement of Olubadan.

“However, we thank God for always taking control. Governor Makinde is not around now, but he will soon be back.

“I am leading a powerful delegation, which shows the seriousness that is attached to the visit. The governor doesn’t want the matter to be prolonged, which is why he mandated us to come.

“We are his forerunner in this matter. Whenever he is around, he will pay a visit to the Olubadan designate.

“Baba is fit and can even compete in a marathon race.”

In his comment, Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe, who shed tears of joy, described the visit as the happiest thing to happen in his life in recent times.

According to him, “We have had a lot of stories concerning this matter, but with today’s visit of the Advisory Council to Governor Makinde, I will have a sound sleep.

“Governor Makinde has once again proved himself as a true son who is always after the progress of Ibadanland.”

Other members of the delegation include the first female Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsura Sunmonu, and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Segun Olayiwola.
