Ihedioha’s supporters berth ‘Rebuild Imo Movement’

Following the former Governor of Imo State, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha’s departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party he co-founded, his supporters have launched the ‘Rebuild Imo Movement,’ a campaign platform gearing up for the 2027 governorship election in the State.

A staunch member of the Rebuild Imo Movement and a former national officer of the PDP, Sir Stanley Ekezie, revealed during the movement’s inaugural press conference in Owerri.

He described the movement as a platform for strategizing and consolidating Ihedioha’s political ambitions in the state.

Ekezie, accompanied by other former PDP members who joined Ihedioha in the movement, emphasized that the Rebuild Imo Movement aims to collaborate with all well-meaning citizens of Imo State and organizations to promote and strengthen democracy in the state.

According to him, consultations have commenced and shall be further broadened to reach all shades of opinions and groups while adding that their rainbow movement will cover both the 27 LGAs and the three geo-political zones.

He called on Imo citizens who share the same ideals and aspirations for Imo to join hands as they embark on this engaging democratic journey.

He said “While he pointed out that their goal is clear, adding that hence we shall reach out to all persons who share the goals of promotion of democracy and good governance in our state and the nation in general”.

While he promised to make known the list of persons who abandoned the PDP to join this new crusade under the Rebuild Imo Movement in due course, Ihedioha said that the essence of this briefing is to let Imo people know that they have moved on and would not be distracted in their quest for the promotion of good governance and democracy in Imo State and Nigeria.

He said: “This engagement shall continue at all levels, as we remain open to building consensus with all groups or persons who are committed to the promotion of good governance and democracy in Imo State and Nigeria”.

The former PDP national officer said it was inevitable that PDP was headed for self-destruction in the state because of the grandiose of the PDP NWC to follow due processes even as it contravened its own constitution in handling its affairs in Imo.
