The Lagos State Government has clarified that it is actively assessing the fire gutted Dosunmu Market and its environs to ascertain the extent of damage.
Mrs. Bola Olumegbon Lawal, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts (CBD), reaffirmed that the suspension order placed on Dosunmu Market and its environs, following the recent fire incident, remains contrary to speculation.
She said the assessment included determining the number of businesses and individuals impacted by the fire, as well as identifying buildings affected by the incident.
Lawal urged market traders to exercise patience during this process, and emphasized that the state government is committed to ensuring a thorough evaluation before making any decisions regarding the reopening of the market.
Lawal added that the public would be duly notified once a decision is reached.
“The Lagos State Government remains dedicated to the safety and well-being of its citizens and businesses.
“The ongoing assessment of Dosunmu Market and its environs underscores this commitment. Stakeholders are encouraged to cooperate with government agencies during this critical phase,” she said.
